Shiso leaves play an essential role in Japanese cuisine, but are also consumed elsewhere in Asia. Green shiso evokes basil, fennel & mint flavors. In Japan they are a traditional accompaniment to raw fish (particularly sashimi), used in salads, or fried as tempura. It can also be used in rice dishes, pasta, salads, sushi, and many other dishes. This wonderful herb is nearly impossible to be found grown locally, but here it is grown right here in Hendricks county. We don't use any chemical herbicides or pesticides in the growing process.
